Richard Burton Archives

The Richard Burton Archives was an invaluable source to us when researching the history of the Students’ Union. It is located in Swansea University’s library, it holds the archive collection of the Students’ Union and the University. It also holds the South Wales Coalfield Collection as well as Local Archive Collections.

The Richard Burton Archives are open to both professional historians and local people trying to retrace the industrial, cultural, social, political and educational histories of South Wales.

Our research would not have been possible without the help of Sue, Katrina, Elisabeth and the rest of the archivists who did so much in helping our individual and group projects.

  1. Not much of a history buff myself but I’d be really interested to learn more! Didn’t even know of the Richard Burton Archives before today! This site makes archive research sound interesting which I never thought I’d hear myself say!
